Durban North organisations celebrate World Oceans Day

The morning ended with numerous bags filled with rubbish.

ADOPT a River Eco Solutions, together with various other organisations and stakeholders, celebrated Word Oceans Day this morning, by not only cleaning up the Beachwood Mangroves beach, but celebrating the people involved too.

Founder of Adopt a River Eco Solutions, Janet Simpkins, explained that a team of five members clean the beach on a daily basis, and not just on World Oceans Day, so the focus was shifted on the people and sponsors that make it possible.

“Today is about drawing together all the people and sponsors who make it possible for us to have a team cleaning up the beach everyday. We will also clean up and it’s exciting to also have with us the children of Ocean View Montessori who we can pass knowledge on to about the beaches and why it’s important to keep it clean,” said Simpkins.

The morning ended with numerous bags filled with rubbish. Those in attendance also enjoyed pizza and refreshments. Read more in the next edition of Northglen News.
