Alleged drug dealers arrested in uMhlanga, Berea

Further investigation from Morningside Village led members to a premises at Gateway flats, where another suspect was found in possession of approximately 2kgs of cocaine powder wrapped in black and clear plastic wrapping.

TWO men will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday for possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.

Members of the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit acted on information of drugs being packaged at a premises along Fyfe Road in Berea.

Police seized 382,2 grams of heroin powder in Durban.

“An operation was put in place leading to the arrest of a man who was found in possession of 2500 blue and white empty capsules and 382,2 grams of heroin powder. The drugs are valued at approximately R90 000. The suspect was detained in Mayville for possession and dealing in drugs,” said police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

Further investigation led members to a premises in uMhlanga, where a second suspect was found in possession of approximately 2kgs of cocaine powder wrapped in black and clear plastic wrapping. 

“The street value of the drugs is R70 000. The suspect was detained at Durban North and charged for possession and dealing in drugs. The total street value of the drugs recovered in the operation was R790 000,” said Mbele.
