Donations pour in for Sim Place fire victims

Donations, in the form of food and clothing, have also come from other government departments which have been a huge help to those in need.

DONATIONS have come pouring in following a fire that broke out at Sim Place Informal Settlement on Saturday.

Mother and child die in fire at Effingham informal settlement

Effingham CPF spokesperson, Rajiv Jaynath, said the CPF had assisted with donations for the affected families.

“The CPF donated 34 food parcels and a mattress. Donations, in the form of food and clothing, have also come from other government departments which have been a huge help to those in need,” said Jaynath. 

A mother and her child died due to smoke inhalation and about 50 families were left displaced due to the furnace that burnt down approximately 40 shacks.

The CPF also made arrangements for a collection point at 1356 Old North Coast Road, Liberty Hall; for anyone who would like to donate items.
