Stephen Buntting of Net Tow, who was with his friend, spotted the vagrant walking with the propeller.

Buntting said the vagrant was adamant that it now belonged to him as he “had found it”.

“He didn’t know better. We explained to him that the helicopter crash was a crime scene and he was stealing evidence which police needed to complete their investigation. He surrendered and we took the propeller back to the scene,” he said.

Meanwhile, South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) spokesperson, Kabelo Ledwaba said the probe into the incident, and a report is expected to be completed within 30 days.

“A preliminary report will be issued within 30 days of the incident,” he said.
