IN March alone, detectives from the KwaZulu-Natal Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrested 326 suspects for crimes that include rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, kidnapping, child abandonment and assault with intent to cause grievously bodily harm.
In addition to the arrests, there have been 20 convictions that include four life sentences and 116 years imprisonment behind bars.

The individuals appeared in various court houses across the province where they were convicted and sentenced for violating women and children.
“The KwaZulu-Natal Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is committed to fighting all crimes directed at women and children,” said the KZN SAPS spokesman, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.
