Care packs delivered to Durban North pharmacists

The care packs were made up of various donations including washing powder, notepads and bath products.

THE Robin Hood Foundation delivered 35 care packs to Broadway Pharmacy staff members recently.

The care packs were made up of various donations including washing powder, notepads and bath products.

Natalie Ogden, co-ordinator of the Robin Hood Foundation, said: “We are busy running a drive where we are giving care packs to the hospital workers and the pharmacy awakened us to the fact that the pharmacy staff are going through so much. I got emotional listening to what they are going through. We decided we had to give them a pack, to show that we applaud them and we want to encourage them to keep going. I don’t think the community realise how much we need the staff that are standing in that shop.”

Broadway Pharmacy owner, Craig Stevens said the care packs were given to various staff members including clinic nurses, floor staff, pharmacists and cashiers.

“We really don’t expect it, but Cindy Norcott (founder of the Robin Hood Foundation) said she had donations to give us and wanted to thank us for what we had done over the Covid-19 lockdown and throughout the year. She came forward with the bags and it was well received here. Thank you to Robin hood foundation for this. I believe the staff really appreciated it,” he said.

Ogden has encouraged businesses to consider donating surplus items to RHF.

“I think a lot of companies have excess items they didn’t sell. They can contact us to collect donations or drop it off at the Broadway Pharmacy rather than throwing it away,” she said.

The items will be used to create care packs for the elderly, babies and frontline workers.
