Criminals pose as workers in blue overalls in Durban North armed robbery

This comes after an incident on Friday when two suspects entered a property in Danville Avenue, dressed in blue overalls.

BLUE Security has urged residents to be aware of housebreaking gangs disguised as workmen, wearing blue overalls, in a ruse to enter properties illegally.

This comes after an incident on Friday when two suspects entered a property in Danville Avenue, dressed in blue overalls confirmed Andreas Mathios.

“The suspects approached the domestic worker and threatened her with a knife. The employee was able to escape the men and run to a neighbour to raise the alarm and inform them of the incident. The suspects fled in the direction of Virginia Bush with one cellphone,” he said.

Just two days later, a suspect allegedly linked to several housebreakings in the north Durban area was arrested in Glenashley.

According to Mathios, the suspect trespassed on a Margaret Maytom Avenue property and also fled into Virginia Bush.

“The resident shared the information on the Home Hawks Neighbourhood Watch group in the area and provided a clear description of the suspect. We searched Virginia Bush and spotted the suspect and a foot chase occurred. Backup was called for and, with the assistance of a fellow officer, he later apprehended the suspect a few blocks away,” he said
