VIDEO: Stellar IEB results for Fatima and Reddam

Northglen News caught up with learners from Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School and Reddam House Umhlanga to chat about their results.

THE Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has announced a pass rate of 98.07 per cent, which is slightly lower than last year’s pass rate of 98.82 per cent.

A total of 12 024 full-time and 1139 part-time candidates from 233 examination centres writing in 261 venues across Southern Africa wrote the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations in October and November 2020.

Northglen News caught up with learners from Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School and Reddam House Umhlanga to chat about their results.

Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School

Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School principal Dee Horsfall, said she was truly delighted by the results of the Class of 2020.

“We are delighted for the Matrics of 2020. All 63 girls in the grade achieved BD passes, with 75 per cent scoring a B aggregate and above; 11 girls scored an A aggregate. The resilience and adaptability demonstrated by learners and staff during the enforced period of online learning were exemplary,” she said. 

Horsfall also congratulated school Dux, Tasmiya Sacoor, who achieved seven distinctions and an 89 per cent aggregate, and Dana Knight who achieved eight As and an 86 per cent aggregate. 

Reddam House Umhlanga

Reddam House Umhlanga matriculants matched last year’s exceptional IEB NSC results obtaining a 100 per cent pass rate.

School principal, Adam Rogers, said he was impressed with the Class of 2020.

“The Class of 2020 produced some exceptional results with the Grade achieving 100 subject as well as five rankings in the top 1 per cent of subjects nationally in Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Life Science, Visual Arts and Life Orientation. A total of 51 per cent of students received A and B aggregates
