Repairs underway at Rinaldo Road sinkhole

Another sinkhole was fixed on the corner of Bauhinia Drive and Wistaria Grove about two weeks ago.

REPAIRS are underway on Rinaldo Road where a massive sinkhole engulfed a section of the road.

The sinkhole, which appeared last year, near Moreland Drive, covered a large section of the road. Part of the road was closed off to motorists.

Resident, Carol McEwan, who is a member of the Glenhills Ratepayers Association, said another sinkhole was fixed on the corner of Bauhinia Drive and Wistaria Grove about two weeks ago.

McEwan said repairs on Rinaldo Road will probably be completed this week.

“I would like to thank the community for their patience in getting the massive sinkhole repaired. The festive season and service delivery problems were the main reasons for the delay. I took the issue to DA councillor Rory MacPherson who assisted and escalated in the repairs being undertaken. We are working on other service delivery issues that have been allowed to slide,” she said.

McEwan said she had been liaising with MacPherson for a few weeks discussing the deterioration of several Glenhills roads.

“There are many roads we need to give attention to. We have to do a catching up process,” she said.

McEwan invited residents of the area to contact her for more information about the ratepyers association.

“I’d like to let all residents of Geln Anil and Glenhills know that we are one of the few existing ratepayers associations. For further information, contact me via email: carolmcewan66@gmail.com and I will put you in touch with the relevant party,” said McEwan.

The eThewini Municipality did not send their comment at the time this article went to print.
