Glenhills sinkhole continues to widen

Residents say they believe the sinkhole is worsening.

CONCERNS continue to grow among Glenhills residents as a massive sinkhole on Rinaldo Road is left to widen with the ongoing summer rains.

The sinkhole which is in the vicinity of Moreland Drive occurred last year in December during the heavy rains.

Nishi Singh, who lives nearby on Harrison Road, said the sinkhole was worsening.

“The sinkhole is still there. I think it’s gotten even worse after the recent rains. I don’t think anyone has come out to inspect it,” she said.

Another concerned resident from the area, Sahil Hansraj said it is a reoccurring sinkhole which reappears often when there are heavy rains.

“This road is a route for trucks so traffic backs up sometimes and we have to find another route to use,” he added.

Glenhills resident, Clayton Joseph said he is concerned that the sinkhole has not been attended to.

“I think it’s urgent that the road is fixed as soon as possible,” he said.

The eThekwini Municipality did not send their comment at the time this article was published.
