A DURBAN North homeower was bitten several times by a suspect trespassing in his yard in Holmark Place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

“The suspect had initially broken into the small home business establishment operating on the residential premises. The homeowner and his wife were alerted to suspicious activity on his property when his security beam in the garden activated the house alarm and he went outside to confront the trespasser. The incident escalated when the two men got into a wrestling match, with the suspect proceeding to inflict various bite wounds on the homeowner.

“During the ensuing struggle the resident’s wife screamed for help, rousing his adult son who lives in a granny flat on the property. The attacker reacted violently, when the son attempted to help his father in subduing the suspect, by trying to bite the son, spitting at him and flicking his blood onto him,” he said.

When Blue Security armed-response officers arrived at the scene a short while later they were able to restrain the attacker and handcuff him, confirmed Mathios.
