Women’s Forte visit children’s hospital

The South African Women's Forte raised funds for the project which was taken on by the hospital.

MEMBERS of the South African Women’s Forte visited the KZN Children’s Hospital recently to celebrate the launch of two newly renovated wards. The successful project was celebrated with a year-end party and children who receive treatment at the hospital were invited.

Rita Abraham, a Mount Edgecombe resident and member of the Women’s Forte, was at the event.

“I’m excited that our project from 2015 has become a success. Today we launched the two wards. It was a wonderful celebration with the children and we hosted a Christmas party. We ended the year on a wonderful note, considering the pandemic,” she said.

Taryn Millar and Dr Arthi Ramkissoon hold a gift at the year-end party. Children who receive medical care at the hospital were invited to attend the event with their parents.

“The children and parents were in great spirits looking forward to the two day wards for the new year. We gave them gift bags with backpacks so when they come from distances to receive their treatments, they have a lunch box and a juice bottle with some activity books and toys to take with them,” added Abraham.

at the party was Dr Arthi Ramkissoon of the KZN Children’s Hospital Trust. She said the Women’s Forte raised funds for the project which was taken on by the hospital.

“The KZN Children’s Hospital Trust is very grateful to the SA Women’s Forte for their contribution – to renovate this beautiful space in the main hospital building. This space will be used for occupational therapy and physiotherapy for children with neuro-developmental disorders. We have lots more to do, so we welcome any contributions,” added Ramkissoon.
