Man shot in attempted hijacking, seeks assistance at uMhlanga petrol station

The victim was shot in the shoulder and hip.

PARAMEDICS were called to Aurora Drive in uMhlanga Ridge in the early hours of Wednesday morning to attend to a gunshot victim.

It is alleged the 24-year-old man has been the victim of an alleged hijacking, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.

The man was shot in the shoulder and hip, added Herbst.

“He said he can’t recall the location, but he was driving around and at the intersection he was approached by a guy who opened fire on him,” said Herbst.

He explained the victim then fled and ended up at a petrol garage on Aurora Drive where staff called for an ambulance.

The victim was stabilised on scene and transported to a local hospital.

Durban North police spokesman, Captain Raymond Deokaran confirmed the incident, but was unable to comment.
