Eight injured in serious crash on Umhlanga Rocks Drive

Two vehicles collided on the corner of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Joseph Avenue, north of Durban.

EIGHT people were injured in a serious crash involving a taxi and a vehicle on the corner of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Joseph Avenue, north of Durban today (29 December). 

Garrith Jamieson, operations director for Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics, said they responded to the scene at approximately 7am. 

“A total of eight people sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene by paramedics before they were transported to various Durban hospitals,” said Jamieson.

He said paramedics and other emergency personnel were called to the scene to assist. 

“On arrival, paramedics found that both vehicles had somehow collided before overturning, coming to rest on the side,” he said.

Jamieson added that the scene is still active. 

“Recovery time is still underway at this stage. The events leading up to the collision are unknown, however, SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further,” he said.
