VIDEO: Safety a priority at annual Trail of Lights event

THE year has been marred by the Covid-19 pandemic, however, there are some magical lights at the end of the tunnel. 

Holiday makers and locals alike will still be able to enjoy the Durban Botanic Garden’s iconic Trail of Lights, which sees the gardens decorated with gleaming festive lights.

The annual event will be held until 30 December, excluding Christmas Day.

The City’s Head of Parks, Recreation and Culture, Thembinkosi Ngcobo has assured the public that protocols have been put in place to combat the spread of the coronavirus. 

“We appeal to our visitors to take full responsibility and adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols,” he added. 

One of the changes made to this year’s event includes the introduction of three entry times: 6pm, 7pm and 8pm.

“This will allow families and visitors to enjoy the trail in a safe and secure environment.”

A percentage of the profits will be donated to the Durban Botanic Gardens Trust said event organiser, Alene Naidoo.

6pm –  R80 per person

7pm – R70 per person

8pm – R60 per person
