They are currently stocking up on newspapers as ‘baby season’ promises an influx of animals in need of care. The newspapers are use to line cages at the centre.

“We’ve finally run out after the incredible amount of donations received earlier this year. With baby season in full swing we need as much newspaper as we can get to line cages,” said CROW.

Among the influx of animals arriving at the centre this week were three antelope babies, two female duikers and one female impala.

“All three are around three days old and in good health. The impala baby was found abandoned by mom, whereas the other two duiker girls found their way to us as a consequence of the bushmeat trade: one was being sold on the side of the road and the other’s mom got poached and eaten,” said CROW.

Newspaper donations can be dropped off at CROW which is situated at 15a Coedmore Avenue in Yellowwood Park.
For more information, call CROW on 031 462 1127.
