Mobile clinic a boost for Khabazela Village

The mobile clinic, which stops at the township once a week, delivers free screenings for diabetes, HIV, TB, Covid-19 and also offers immunisations to those in need and was set-up by the KZN Department of Health.

A MOBILE clinic on wheels, set-up at Khabazela Village, is bringing care to the people and extending its reach into communities.

The mobile clinic, which stops at the township once a week, delivers free screenings for diabetes, HIV, TB, Covid-19 and also offers immunisations to those in need and was set-up by the KZN Department of Health.

Khabazela Village community leader, Dumile Magaqa, said the clinic’s arrival has been a boost to the township which falls under ward 110.

“Prior to the mobile clinic’s arrival, residents would have to travel to the KwaMashu Polyclinic, which is further away. Their presence here is helping reach more residents in the community because they can simply walk to the clinic.

“We are grateful to the nurses and the department of health who have made this possible. As news spread about the clinic’s arrival, we’ve seen so many residents make use of the services. Even though they come here once a week, it has helped many of the elderly residents and those in most need,” Magaqa said.

The clinic is currently using the KwaMashu Community Prayer Center parking lot to help those in need. Operational manager at the mobile clinic, Princess Magwaza, said hundreds of residents have benefitted from the clinic since October.

“We’ve had good feedback from the residents in the township. We have two professional nurses, another nurse handling immunisations and we offer various services,” she said.
