VIDEO: Our Lady of Fatima learners celebrate as exams come to an end

Northglen News spoke to some of the jubilant students who wrote their last common paper on Wednesday.

OUR Lady of Fatima learners celebrated with their fellow matriculants countrywide on Wednesday after writing their final Independent Examinations Board (IEB) common exam.

Learners wrote Afrikaans paper 2 and some of them spoke to Northglen News about their plans going forward and also offered a message of hope to matriculants who are still writing exams.

Emma Lofstedt and Olivia McCall chatted to us about what’s kept them strong this year.

A tradition at the school is to donate their previously loved school shoes to the Blue Sky Society Trust’s Soul2Sole project. These shoes will be collected, cleaned and then donated to children who don’t have any school shoes.

Carla Geyser, founder of the Blue Sky Society Trust and initiator of the Soul2Sole project said since 2015, more than 9 000 previously loved school shoes have been donated to those in need.

The project will also host a donation drop at Eastman’s Spar on Tuesday, 15 December on the rooftop parking. Residents are encouraged to drop off and donate previously loved school shoes to the project.

Our Lady of Fatima learner, Kate Montocchio, shows off a new pair of donated school shoes.
