Heavy-duty vehicles wreak havoc in Glen Anil

Malcolm Jenner whose business is based at Cypress Park said the condition of Bauhinia Drive, Wisteria Grove and Cypress Drive in particular were shocking.

A BUSINESS owner has expressed his concern over the deterioration of roads in certain sections of Glen Anil.

The area, which is part industrial, part residential, has had a longstanding problem with heavy-duty vehicles driving over and in some cases, destroying kerbs, knocking down street signs as well as damaging sewer lines.

Malcolm Jenner, whose business is based at Cypress Park, said the condition of Bauhinia Drive, Wisteria Grove and Cypress Drive in particular were shocking.

“The condition of the roads, both residential and industrial in the area is terrible. Part of the road has collapsed in places and in other parts, washaways are common where sand and stone lay across the road causing a hazard to vehicles using the roads. It can get extremely messy. I know several residents had also expressed their unhappiness about the state of the roads.

“We acknowledge part of Glen Anil is industrial, however some of these roads definitely weren’t made for all these heavy duty vehicles that we have coming through here. As a result roads and paving in our area is becoming shocking. We have been in contact with the councillor and the City to help resolve this issue but we’ve had no luck so far. We fear in some places the road system may cave in due to the damage sustained,” Jenner said.
