Woman stabbed and run over in Effingham

The woman staggered onto the road after sustaining multiple stab wounds, said chairperson for the Effingham CPF, Rajiv Jaynath.

A WOMAN was stabbed multiple times and run over by a motorist on the corner of Prince Mhlangana and Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) on Saturday, 21 November at 7:45pm.

This according to chairperson for the Effingham Community Policing Forum, Rajiv Jaynath who said the woman staggered onto the road after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

Jaynath said the woman appeared to be disorientated when a CPF member spotted her near the intersection at approximately 7.30pm.

“One of our CPF members witnessed the first vehicle hitting her. Our member was driving past in the other direction. By the time he had turned around to go and help the woman, he saw two more vehicles run over the body,” said Jaynath.

Provincial spokesperson for the SAPS, Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed that Greenwood Park is investigating a case of murder.

“It is alleged that the body of a 30-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds on the body. The suspect is still unknown. The matter is still under investigation,” said Gwala.

“The other problem we are facing is that the area is not well lit up. It’s a very dark area. There are about 10 street lights that are broken,” he said.
