Armed men rob Durban North service station

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and several boxes of cigarettes.

DURBAN North police are searching for three suspects involved in the armed robbery of the Engen Fairway Convenience Centre in the early hours of Friday morning.

According to SAPS provincial spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, the service station on Old Mill Way was robbed at about 12.40am.

“A staff member, working as a cashier, said she saw two men walk into the store both armed with handguns. The first suspect demanded cash while the second suspect began stealing several boxes of cigarettes. When she looked outside, she noticed the security guard and petrol attendant were being held at gunpoint by a third suspect. The suspect threatened the cashier not to press an alarm. The trio fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash,” Mbele said.
