IF you’re in the mood for an action-packed weekend, Nu Metro has you covered with the latest movie screenings. 

Feeling lucky on Friday the 13th, then the new body-swapping horror Freaky is just for you. You also have the chance to be swept away by the moving drama of Toorbos, based on the best-selling Dalene Matthee novel. There’s something for everyone this weekend.

Here are this weekend’s new movie releases at Nu Metro:

Honest Thief (13 LV)

They call him the ‘In and Out Bandit’ because meticulous thief Tom Carter (Liam Neeson) has stolen $9 million from small-town banks while managing to keep his identity a secret. But, after he falls in love with the bubbly Annie (Kate Walsh), Tom decides to make a fresh start by coming clean about his criminal past, only to be double-crossed by two ruthless FBI agents. Honest Thief is an action-packed thriller of the highest calibre!

Toorbos (13 PS)

The moving home-grown romantic drama, Toorbos (Afrikaans with English subtitles), tells the story of a young woman (Elani Dekker), who is uprooted during the time of the last forest inhabitants of South Africaʼs Knysna forest of the 1930s. When she gets involved in an intimate relationship with an urban gentleman (Stiaan Smith), her forest background proves an obstacle. Karoliena is coaxed into marriage, experiences the realities of progress, the power of money, the oppression of nature, and what it will take to stay true to herself.

 

Freaky (18 DHLPSV)

When a regular teenage girl swaps bodies with a serial killer, her ultimate goal becomes to get her body back! Vince Vaughn (as a towering psychopath) and Kathryn Newton (as a teen girl) star in the comedy-horror-slasher movie, Freaky. No body is safe in this new take on the popular body-swapping story. Get ready for some freaky, scream-out-loud movie madness.

Laxmii (10-12PG V)

This is the new horror-comedy movie starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani. It follows a ghost seeking vengeance for being wronged and haunts everyone who is staying in the house.
