Community members have been challenged to support the clean-up/ planting campaign this Saturday.

ENVIRO Fixers Durban North will host a clean-up campaign on Saturday, 14 November at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club on Saturday on Ranleigh Crescent starting at 8.30am.

Northglen News recently spoke to Enviro Fixers member, Helen Koch, who gave some background to the campaign.

“With the coming of spring and loosening of the national lockdown, Enviro Fixers, Northwood Crusaders Sports Club and the surroundings neighbours have banded to work together to clean-up the verges and communal areas around Crusaders.

“On the day you can choose between the clean-up or planting. If planting isn’t your thing then bring a black rubbish bag and we can pick up litter.

Posters will also be up pointing out invasives that need to be dug up.

“In terms of planting, we have picked out beautiful indigenous plants that are going to attract bird life and wildlife to the area. Enviro Fixers have bought the plants and the community can buy them back via Zapper or cash to bolster our coffers so that we can continue our work in Durban North.

“The residents have been very supportive in helping us realise our dream to beautify our area,” Koch said.

The clean up will commence at 8.30am and should end by 12pm explained Koch.

“We are hoping the community comes out in its numbers to support the initiative as it is open to everyone. People can bring spades or any tools they might need, water, a smile, energy and a strong back for the planting,” she added.

There will be bacon, boerie rolls, coffee, cold drinks on sale.
