Power outages continues in Durban North

The eThekwini Municipality said they were experiencing power outages in several areas across north Durban.

FREQUENT power outages have been reported across north Durban with residents on Collard Road in Durban North facing their second day without electricity on Tuesday.

Acting Ward Councillor for the area, Shontel de Boer said the power had been out for more than 24 hours.

“Residents on Collard Road have been without power for more than 24 hours now. It’s been happening almost every week. Residents were without power for three days during a power outage about two weeks ago. Now the outage is on day two already. The technicians who came yesterday said it was a cable fault,” she said.

De Boer said Anthony Road residents were also without power.

In a statement on its Facebook Page, eThekwini Municipality said they were experiencing power outages in several areas including Umgeni Heights, Collard Road, Effingham, Parkhill  (Lancaster Grove), Umhlanga (Twilight Drive) and Seacowlake (Havenwood Place).

“Our technicians are working around the clock to restore power. If your area isn’t listed above and you are experiencing a power outage, we urge that you call 0803111111, email custocare@elec.durban.gov.za or WhatsApp 0767912449,” read the statement.
