Sunningdale’s ‘rocking mamma’ to host parenting talk

The talk is based on Thornell's book, Rocking Mamma's Wisdom, which she recently published.

SUNNINGDALE resident, Gerogina Thornell will host a parenting talk entitled: Back to Basics, a common sense approach to parenting, on  Saturday, 7 November from 2.30pm until 4pm at coffee shop, Bean 2 Banter in Durban North.

The talk is based on Thornell’s book, Rocking Mamma’s Wisdom, which she recently published.

“I felt that lockdown had been tough on a lot of families and wanted to take the pearls of wisdom that I wrote about in my book and put it together in a talk that would inspire people to restore peace and harmony in their homes. The talk offers guidelines on how parents can unconditionally love their children, support their God-given potential, make time for relationship and ultimately how to have open and honest communication,” said Thornell.

Thornell, who created the talk during the lockdown period has partnered with Sheetal Deosaran, owner of Bean 2 Banter.

“Our collaboration is super special as we are two moms from a local school who both have a desire to positively impact the Durban North community,” said Thornell.

Deosaran added “I’m here to promote a healthy body and Georgina promotes having a healthy mind and a healthy family, so I thought it would be good for us to collaborate.”

Thornell said she had received positive feedback after she launched her talk on 26 Septmeber.

“We accommodated ten people, because we bore in mind Covid-19 protocols- social distancing, masks and sanitising. It was intimate and informal. If people had questions, we could stop and discuss what was not understood or whatever needed clarity. It was very relaxed and engaging- that’s my style,” she said.

Booking is essential to attend the upcoming talks.
