Frame your picture perfect moment on Durban Promenade

The frames, situated near the skate park and the other situated near uShaka Sea World allows locals and visitors to photograph themselves with picturesque views of Durban's Golden Mile as a backdrop.

LOCAL residents and tourists are making good use of Durban’s newly installed giant social media photo frames set up on the promenade.

The frames, situated near the skate park and the other situated near uShaka Sea World allows locals and visitors to photograph themselves with picturesque views of Durban’s Golden Mile as a backdrop.

The unveiling formed part of a tourism campaign by the eThekwini Municipality over the Heritage Day long weekend. The City also launched its North Beach Tourism Information Office which will provide a personalised service, brochures, maps and Wi-Fi access to tourists. Within the office, there is a newly established Durban Souvenir Shop trading locally produced products supplied by around 11 small, medium and micro enterprises that promote the City’s heritage.

“The social media photo frames will allow tourists and the public with a platform to take pictures that will capture their memorable stay in Durban and of course upload them on social media so that the City continues trending as the warmest place to be in terms of hospitality and hosting capabilities,” the City said in a statement.

One of those excited about the frames is Durban North resident and tour guide (Durban Walking Tours), Alison Chadwick.

“I’m delighted with the new look photo frames, I think they are beautiful and offer such an iconic background to your photos. I can’t wait to experience them when the sun is out and the aloes along the promenade are in bloom. I think it’s a great move from Durban tourism and the municipality because I’ve seen what a hit it is with people walking by.

“You’ve also got similar frames at famous destinations around the world and now the City of Durban has joined the club so to speak. On my walking tours I will be encouraging residents and visitors to include this newest attraction in their itineraries. Tourism is a valuable industry and this is another awesome attraction in the City,” she said.
