Elderly woman airlifted to hospital after La Lucia crash

A 70-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital after she crashed into a street light pole on the corner of Old Bush Road and William Campbell Drive in La Lucia just before 1 pm on Sunday.

 

National spokesperson for Netcare911, Shawn Herbst said the woman suffered severe injuries.

 

 

Herbst said Crisis Medical Paramedics arrived on the scene first and called for Advanced Life Support Paramedics.

 

 

“We received a call at 12.57 and arrived 13.04. The woman suffered polytraumatic injuries,” he said.

 

The woman was airlifted to a specialist facility due to the severity of her injuries.

 

“She required a trauma 1 facility,” said Herbst.
