Planned water interruption for Sea Cow Lake and Springfield Park

ETHEKWINI Municipality has warned residents of Sea Cow Lake, Springfield Park, and the surrounding areas about a planned water interruption this week.

City spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela said the shut down will commence on Wednesday, 12 August at 6pm, until the early hours of Thursday, 13 August at 6am.

“The Municipality’s Water and Sanitation department will embark on this process to carry out strategic tie -ins of the new 500 mm steel pipeline along the new BRT route, which requires to be connected to the existing Sea Cow Lake/ Springfield Park reticulation outlet for the new GO! Durban Project.

“This development is necessary to ensure that the distribution of water from the reservoir is not interjected and that the system is balanced. Residents are advised that suburbs and zones supplied from the Sea Cow Lake and Springfield Park reservoir will not have a water supply during the period of the shut,” Mayisela said.

These roads affected include, Inanda Road, Peters Road,  Hippo Road, Barvale Road, Carden Road, Johanna Road, Sea Cow Lake Road, part of Chris Hani Road, Roadhouse Crescent, part of Riverside Road, Dahlia Road, Foxglove Place, Ribes Place, Lotus Road, Alpine Road, Redfern Road, Umgeni Road, Carinthia Road, Garforth Road, Springfield Park-North of Umgeni River and Springfield Park-South of Umgeni River.

“The Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period, and requests residents to ensure that all taps are closed properly to guard against wastage when the water has been restored,” Mayisela said.
