Man arrested for attempted murder in La Lucia

The victim was allegedly stabbed multiple times by the attacker in the incident.

DURBAN North SAPS arrested and charged a man for a stabbing that occurred in La Lucia on Sunday evening.

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesperson for the station, the incident occurred near a service station on Armstrong Avenue just after 9pm.

“Two petrol attendants heard someone screaming for help near the service station. They saw the suspect repeatedly stabbing the victim and immediately alerted police. When our officers arrived on scene, they found the perpetrator still on scene after being detained by security officers from a security company. He was arrested and has been charged with attempted murder. The victim was transported to Addington Hospital,” said Deokaran.

Blue Security, who were also on scene and detained the suspect, said victim is in a stable condition in hospital.

“I was patrolling the area at around 9.15pm when I witnessed a fight between two men. The attacker pulled out a knife and stabbed his victim in the head. I was able to successfully apprehend and detain the suspect until Durban North SAPS arrived, at which point I handed him over,” the responding officer from Blue Security said.
