Officer down but not out after hit-and-run

The suspect was eventually arrested after he drove his silver Range Rover into the boundary fence of a property in Glenashley.

IT has been revealed that the motorist arrested for running over a policeman in the Durban CBD earlier today had done so after he had been pulled over by the Durban Central police.

“[When] the officers were about to search the vehicle the driver fled and while fleeing he ran over a police officer,” said Tyron Powell of Marshall Security. 

A high-speed chase ensued with Durban Central SAPS, Metro Police and Marshall Security officers.

The suspect was eventually arrested after he drove his silver Range Rover into the boundary fence of a property in Marion Avenue in Glenashley, Durban North.

Powell said he had received information that the policeman is hospital and in a stable condition.

“He has cuts and bruises from the incident on his arms and legs, but he is okay,” he said.

The suspect was taken to Durban North SAPS  for further investigations.
