VIDEO: Seven dead in M19 horror crash
Eight occupants were severely entrapped in the wreckage and seven were declared dead at the scene.
SEVEN people were killed in an accident involving a single vehicle on the Umgeni flyover, which joins the M19 highway on to the N2 northbound, this morning just before 6am.
Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care Paramedics said the accident occurred on the bend as the two highways merge.
“A single vehicle somehow lost control and rolled numerous times,” he said.
On arrival, paramedics found eight occupants severely entrapped in the wreckage, said Jamieson.

“The Jaws of Life and other hydrophilic equipment was used to cut the patients free. Once free, unfortunately seven were declared deceased on the scene,” he added.
One person was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
At this stage the exact cause of the accident is unknown. SAPS, Metro Police, Search and Rescue responded to the scene to investigate.
