Covid-19: Greenwood Park doctor features in uplifting video

Local doctor, Dr Naseeba Kathrada initiated the project by sending out a link inviting doctors to contribute.

DOCTORS from across South Africa contributed toward an uplifting video as they sang along to Durban radio producer, John Cameron’s rendition of Hey You, an adaption of The Beatles song, Hey Jude. Dr Mags Moodley, who runs a general practice in Greenwood Park, featured in the video, lip singing a few lines from his practice, which boasts an amazing collection of 1000 action figures and 7000 comics and graphic novels, some signed by Stan Lee and George Lucas.

“Working, in the time of Covid-19 has been stressful, but rewarding, because we are all part of a global army of healthcare workers ensuring that the world population is safe. The worldwide camaraderie among doctors and healthcare professionals is heartwarming, and that keeps our spirit and motivation up,” said Moodley who added that he is part of a volunteer group of doctors handling 400 calls a day to assist people countrywide.

“It’s been an amazing experience. The best part was receiving comments from doctors, who said that the video has been uplifting in this time of uncertainty,” said Kathrada.

She came up with the idea last week amidst the uncertainty about when the nation-wide lockdown would lift.
“Everywhere you look there’s news about Covid-19. I thought it would be nice to do something uplifting,” she said.

Kathrada said the video had a far reaching impact as she had received messages of gratitude and support from doctors in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
