VIDEOS-Sunningdale resident re-enacts famous movie scenes during lockdown

For the last few weeks of the lockdown, Lyle Buxton has been re-enacting his favourite scenes from movies and TV in short clips.

WHEN the nationwide lockdown was announced last month, Sunningdale resident, Lyle Buxton, focused on honing his acting skills. For the last few weeks, the actor and educator at Reddam House Umhlanga has been re-enacting his favourite scenes from movies and TV in short clips.

What started out as a bit of entertainment on his Instagram account soon spiraled into people tuning in to see which scenes Buxton would recreate.

From Iron Man in the Avengers Endgame movie, to Basil Fawlty (Fawlty Towers) to Euphegenia Doubtfire (Mrs Doubtfire) to Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Carribean) Buxton’s DIY short reenactments have made an impact on those following him.

“I just wanted to lift the mood during the nationwide lockdown. It initially started as a way to entertain myself, so I would DIY a scene by using whatever I could around the house. For Captain Jack Sparrow I used a black bin bag and some dark eyeliner and whatever clothes I could find.

“It’s really short clips on a budget. The feedback has been great, it’s been mostly friends and family but then as I started doing more clips, more people were commenting. For me it’s a great way to keep the acting bug energised,” he said.

While he intended on doing the clips only for the 21 day lockdown, Buxton said he would soon start taking requests following the announcement of the lockdown extension.
