THE SPAR pages is a monthly feature in the Northglen News that highlights the achievements of learners and this month we need your help.
Normally, each month, local schools from the North Durban area nominate their SPAR Star of the Month in a primary school and a high school category (learners are nominated for individual achievement).
The nominated learner could have achieved in sports, academics and/or cultural activities. Their photo and editorial write up on their achievements is published on the SPAR Superstars pages.
Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, we are asking parents to send us nominations of their children who’ve done something special during the lockdown, be it buying items to help those in need or supporting their community in a positive way.
We urge parents of learners in the following schools (Atholton Primary School, Northlands Primary School, Glenashley Junior Primary and Glenashley Prep) to submit a high resolution image of the learner with a short description of what they’ve done. We also need your contact details so we can conduct an interview. One learner will be chosen for the SPAR Stars feature.
Send us your school submissions to danicah@dbn.caxton.co.za. Email Danica by 3pm on Thursday to stand a chance of being chosen.
Every three months a winner is chosen from each area in the junior and senior categories from all the learners highlighted in the newspapers and the learner with the highest number of votes online is awarded a R250 SPAR shopping voucher. You can also vote for previous stars here:
The winners page with the 16 winners for that quarter is published in all the Caxton newspapers.
An annual overall winner from the primary school and high school categories is chosen in November from the 48 quarterly winners and both are awarded a R5 000 shopping vouchers and a SPAR hamper. The winners are published in all of the Caxton newspapers in a half page editorial in December.
