Grace Family Church shows Easter spirit

GRACE Family Church donated more than 2 000 Easter eggs to the homeless last week as a way of showing its Easter spirit. Dave Richter of the church said the donation of the chocolate eggs were made possible due to a donation from Reddam House Umhlanga.

“Grace Family Church is part of the deputy mayor’s task team for the homeless and we’ve seen an incredible collaborative effort in helping those who are most vulnerable during this pandemic. We had earmarked donating the eggs to a homeless shelter and with this particular lockdown we felt it would serve as a way of creating hope. There are various other food hamper donations also being organised by various organisations to help the homeless,” he explained.

Richter said the church had also donated 200 kilograms of rice to the cause.

“We are working with a Muslim organisation who are going to cook the rice and it’s lovely to see inter-faith collaboration. Seeing everyone work together at a time like this really is heart warming and in the true spirit of Easter.

“What I’ve found being part of the task team is that doing things alone will get you so far, however working together makes an even bigger impact,” he said.
