VIDEO: Burst pipe in Glen Anil flows over World Water Day

The leak has been ongoing for more than a week.

A RESIDENT of Keurboom Close in Glen Anil is concerned about a pipe burst as a steady stream of  water flows down the road. What’s more, the resident said the leak flowed over World Water Day on 22 March, an annual observance day declared by the United Nations to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

Patrick Murgatroyd, who lives on Keurboom Road, said he reported the leak more than a week ago.

“I first called about a week and a half ago and I was told it would be attended to. I left it for a few days and called again about two days ago to report that it is still leaking and it is getting worse,” he said.

While the flow of the water is not affecting him directly, Murgatroyd is concerned about the amount of water that is being wasted.

“It’s running into a drain, but the main problem is that water is getting wasted. It should have been attended to as it started leaking,” he said.

EThekwini Municipality spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela said: “Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. The fault will be logged correctly. A team will then be sent to address the issue.”
