#TourDurban2020: Enter before 29th Feb and stand the chance to WIN

The annual aQuellé Tour Durban is around the corner. Have you entered yet?

Entries are starting to pour in for the 2020 edition of the iconic KZN cycling classic the aQuellé Tour Durban on 25 and 26 April. It is a day for Durbanites to take to the streets on their bikes, secure that they are riding on full road closure, and make the most of the Autumn weather and the Freedom Day long weekend.

The household name event is under new management and a whole lot of exciting changes have been made to take Durban’s favourite cycling race to the next level.

For the serious roadies, the main race has been extended and reversed. Totalling 115km now, it starts with an out-and-back loop up the M4 then up into Pinetown with a proper climb up the new Dumisane Makhanye  super-highway , followed by a fast descent through Queensburgh and back up the Southern Freeway to the finish at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

For the less fit riders there is a very do-able and family friendly 45km and a double lap 90km option on the M4, starting and finishing at Moses Mabhida Stadium, proving options for anyone in Durban keen to take full advantage of the great Autumn weather and the full road closures.

Saturday sees four new events added to the long weekend of riding. A 20km and 40km MTB race based at Cornubia Mall using new single track carved through the surrounding farmlands. Then there is a road race for the development riders coming through the KZN Cycling programme, and a fun race for smaller kids on bikes and trikes.

All procees of the Tour Durban event go to the Domino Foundation a. PHOTO: Anthony Grote/Gameplan Media.

The race has the Domino Foundation at its core. All the proceeds go to this fantastic organisation doing great things for the underprivileged communities north of Durban. Choose to ride in a charity batch with the Cell C Sharks, or The Cows as they raise money for CHOC, or simply join other Durbanites #Riding4Good on full road closure on the Freedom Day long weekend.
