Social media users share ‘violent videos’ of UKZN protest

Videos of violent protest have appeared on social media.

WHILE the University of KwaZulu-Natal announced that their academic programme is continuing today,  social media users take to Twitter to share videos of unbridled protest action.

From billowing smoke, a burning building and brazen protestors, the videos depict protest action that has turned violent.

Corporate Relations at UKZN’s Westville Campus issued a statement on their Facebook page to say lectures are continuing as scheduled.

“This morning one of three entrances was blocked, but has since been cleared. South African Police Services and university security are currently monitoring the situation,” read the statement.

Social cohesion advocate, Yusuf Abramjee posted a video that shows protestors climbing onto a moving Casspir and striking the vehicle with what appears to be a pole.
