Coronavirus halts post office deliveries to SA

Mail to and from China has been stopped.

THE SA Post Office warned customers expecting mail or parcels from China, “That they are likely to be delayed, as the airline connections to and from China have been suspended.”

The SA Post Office advise customers who intend to post items to China, to wait until transport connections to China have been restored.

The move comes as China is gripped in the mushrooming coronavirus outbreak.

On Sunday the World Health Organisation declared a global health emergency following the outbreak of the virus which has already infected more than 17 000 people. Measures to halt the spread of a deadly virus that emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December have been stepped up around the world.

The new coronavirus, causes respiratory illness and to date 361 people have died after contracting the deadly virus.

By yesterday Transnet SOC Ltd has implemented additional procedures for all vessels entering South African ports.
