Pedestrian killed in N2 accident

The pedestrian was assessed by paramedics on the freeway and was declared deceased on scene.

A PEDESTRIAN was killed on Monday morning when he was knocked by a truck on the N2 (south bound) freeway.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, the accident occurred on the southbound lane opposite the Riverhorse Petroport.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a male in his 30s was struck by a truck while running across the road. The patient was assessed and found to have sustained fatal injuries and was sadly declared deceased on scene,” he said.

In a separate incident at about 4pm, Netcare 911 also responded to reports of an accident involving a pedestrian on the corner of Herrwood and Autumn Drive.

“Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male was struck by a light motor vehicle while running across the road. The patient was assessed on scene and found to be in a stable condition. Once treated the patient was transported by private ambulance to hospital,” Hebrst said.
