Suspect in Beachwood Mangroves robbery remanded into custody

The Greenwood Park CPF believe the same suspect was involved in the armed robbery of former Durban North resident, Bart Fokkens, which also occurred last year.

DURBAN North police have confirmed the suspect allegedly involved in the armed robbery of ward councillor, Nicole Bollman, has been remanded into custody following his first court appearance at the Durban Magistrate’s Court.

The Greenwood Park CPF told Northglen News they believe the same suspect was involved in the armed robbery of former Durban North resident, Bart Fokkens, which also occurred last year.

The arrest of the suspect came as a result of the City’s Security Management Unit who had eight security guards stationed along various points of Riverside Road over the festive season. The suspect was arrested by security personnel near the Riverside Road turnoff.

According to police, the suspect will be held at Westville Prison until his next court appearance on 24 January.

Police are continuing their investigations trying to link the suspect to other crimes committed in the area.

Despite the arrest, residents are reminded visitors going to the reserve could only do so by appointment.
