95 babies born on New Year’s Day in KZN

Out of the 95 babies born, 47 were boys and 48 girls.

THE Department of Health reported that 95 babies were born  in hospitals across KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday, 1 January 2020.

National health minister,  Dr Zweli Mkhize, KZN premier,  Sihle Zikalala, acting Health MEC, Kwazi Mshengu and eThekwini Mayor,  Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda visited  King Dinuzulu Hospital in Durban, where  three babies were born on New Year’s Day.

KZN premier, Sihle Zikalala and National health minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize welcoming New Year’s babies at King Dinuzulu Hospital.

They welcomed the New Year’s Day babies and handed out gifts to the mothers and presented them with their babies’ birth certificates.

“This will be the norm from here on, where mothers can walk out of hospital with the birth certificate in hand and not have to go to home affairs,” said Mkhize to excited mothers.

The department reported that the first New Year’s Day baby was born at midnight, at Ladysmith Hospital.
