Domestic worker assaulted in La Lucia robbery

The gang also tied up the domestic worker before confining her in one of the rooms of the home.

A DOMESTIC worker was assaulted by an armed gang in a home invasion in La Lucia on Friday afternoon. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred on Washington Drive at about 1.30pm.

This is the fourth armed robbery since the beginning of December that Northglen News has reported on.

“Four suspects, one armed with a hand gun, entered the home and confronted the domestic worker before assaulting her and tying her hands together. They then confined her to a bathroom.

The gang then ransacked the family home, making off with undisclosed items before fleeing in an awaiting getaway vehicle. Although traumatized in the ordeal, the domestic worker did not suffer any serious injuries. The suspects remain at large,” he said.

Durban North police were on scene and a case of house robbery has been opened.
