Two armed robberies rock Durban North

The armed robberies took place on Kenneth Kaunda Road and Bougainvillea Drive.

POLICE are searching for the gangs involved in two home invasions on Kenneth Kaunda Road (Northway) and
Bougainvillea Drive on Tuesday.

One of the robberies took place on Kenneth Kaunda Road at 11.15pm confirmed Durban North SAPS spokesperson, Capt Raymond Deokaran.

“The armed robbers gained access to the property by holding up a security guard. The gang then stormed the main bedroom of the home where the homeowner was asleep. He was threatened and tied up with shoelaces. They made off with several items including a large amount of cash, a white Opel Corsa, two iPhones, a TV and various other items before fleeing the scene,” Deoakran said.

In another incident on Bougainvillea Drive in Glenhills a domestic worker was held up by armed men just after lunchtime.

Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security said two suspects gained access via a driveway gate.

“The men confronted the domestic worker who was busy washing clothes. The suspects produced an Okapi knife and ordered the domestic worker to go inside the bathroom. The homeowners’ son and daughter who were inside the house were also ordered to go inside the bathroom, they were then locked inside while the suspects ransacked the entire house. The men made off with a laptop and an iPad. They attempted to take the TV but left it behind,” he said.
