Golden Hours celebrate Christmas party in style

Golden Hours principal thanked local businesses and the North Durban community for their help in supporting their Christmas party.

THERE was plenty of joy and excitement at Golden Hours Special Needs School last week as learners celebrated their annual Christmas party. Perhaps the biggest cheer at the party was reserved for the appearance of Santa Claus who handed out presents and love to the learners.

Golden Hours School principal, Rowan Hornby, thanked the North Durban community and various businesses who helped contribute to the special day which included jumping castles and ponies.

“We were just blown away by how the community gave to our school and helped contribute to the most amazing Christmas Party. Through the donations of hampers and vouchers from local businesses we were able to give learner at the school gifts. I cannot find the words to express how grateful we are for the support and to all the volunteers who helped out on the day.

“This means the world to the children and there was just happiness and joy everywhere you looked. The biggest cheer and the best interactions was with our Santa Claus, Grant Hobbs, who has been our Santa for four years. The children just adore him and really relate to him. In the past they’ve not reacted well to big bearded Santas and I feel Grant really brings out the best in our learners when he dons the suit,” Hornby said.
