Two arrested on Chartwell Drive in connection with theft cases

The vehicle recovered in the arrest was spotted at a number of crime scenes.

MARSHALL Security recovered a vehicle sought by the SAPS for a theft case in the Amanzimtoti area on Sunday. Two men who were inside the vehicle were remanded into custody.

According to the company’s Kyle van Reenen, the vehicle was spotted by the Special Operations Team travelling on Chartwell Drive.

“The vehicle was fitted with fraudulent registration plates. The vehicle has also been linked to multiple incidents across the greater Durban area and surrounds over the past month, including an armed robbery in Davenport, a shooting and attempted hijacking in Berkeley Crescent as well as an attempted hijacking in the Phoenix area. Two suspects were remanded into the custody of the Durban North SAPS,” he said.

Durban North SAPS, Capt Raymond Deokaran, confirmed two people had been arrested and said investigations were ongoing.
