One dead in William Campbell Drive crash

A second biker was also injured in the accident in La Lucia on Friday afternoon.

A thirty-three-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision involving two motorcycles and a light motor vehicle on William Campbell Drive, La Lucia on Friday afternoon.

Crisis Medical spokesman, Kyle van Reenen said when paramedics arrived on scene they found of the bikers had suffered critical injuries and was in a state of cardiac arrest.

“Advanced life support practitioners attempted to resuscitate the man for over thirty minutes, however, their attempts were futile and he was declared deceased on the scene. A second motorcyclist, a man, thirty years of age, was also injured when his motorcycle collided with the light motor vehicle in a secondary collision.

“He suffered moderate injuries and was treated and stabilized on scene before being taken to hospital by another private ambulance service. The driver and only occupant of the light motor vehicle involved did not suffer any injury. At this stage, the cause of the collision is unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation,” he said.
