Motorists who use social media to warn others about roadblock locations could be charged with defeating the ends of justice.

The motorists were nabbed in a joint operation between Metro Police and the Durban North police station on the M4 (going north).

“We are seeing a number of drivers still taking a chance and putting other motorists’ lives at risk by driving drunk. Being arrested for drunk driving is not a misdemeanour, it is a serious crime and a preventable choice. We have a zero tolerance approach for drunken driving, so appeals for leniency because some people view this as a ‘lesser crime’ are ridiculous,” he said.

He also warned residents around Durban who were using social media to warn others about roadblock locations saying they could be charged with defeating the ends of justice if caught.
