Berea Mail

Multi-Media journalist

We are looking for a young, enthusiastic person to join our newsroom and share our passion for keeping our readers informed and entertained both in print and online.

Requirements:

  • A valid degree or diploma in Journalism or Communication
  • At least three year’s work experience in a newsroom
  • Excellent English, written and spoken, language skills.
  • Ability to speak other languages is an advantage.
  • Confident photographer
  • Sound knowledge of social media and able to create content including short videos and               sound bites for the Berea Mail website, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and You Tube channel.
  • Time management skills and able to meet daily deadlines
  • Willingness to work some nights and every second weekend
  • A valid driver’s license and must have your own vehicle.
  • Knowledge of the area and contacts in the area is an added advantage.

Distribution Clerk

Caxton Durban is looking for a Distribution Clerk who is extremely organised and reliable, ensuring the community newspapers we produce are distributed to the highest of proficiency and that readers’ enquiries are dealt with efficiently and professionally.

The main responsibilities of this individual are as per below

  • Liaison with the printing factory and delivery distributor to ensure that the newspapers that are produced are recorded and being sent out to the public accurately.
  • Accurately keep all records and documentation up to date.
  • Ensure that queries from the public are dealt with timeously and professionally and that all correspondence is captured on the company CMA system.
  • Updating of all documentation required by Audit Bureau of Circulation.
  • Submission of quarterly and annual ABC audits for the newspapers.
  • Liaison with Caxton head office to ensure all required documents are always kept updated and submitted timeously.
  • Work with the branch to ensure that consistent checking of distribution points is managed to ensure maximum exposure of our publications.

Junior Campaign Manager

Description summary:

As a Junior Campaign Manager, your main responsibility will be uploading, optimizing and reporting on digital campaigns that run on the Local News Network (LNN). This includes, but is not limited to, loading campaigns on the ad server (Google Ads Manager), campaign optimization, managing material and stakeholder relationships and delivering accurate campaign reports.

Position Overview

  • Compiling inventory checks for Caxton branch representatives.
  • Provide technical support to branch representatives.
  • Reserving and booking of online campaigns in line with the Insertion Order
  • Assist in sourcing campaign creative (images, artwork or final material) from branch representatives & clients.
  • Check creative against technical specs and alert involved parties of any creative amendments required
  • Set up and implement advertising campaigns in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Manage the digital campaign process by ensuring all booked elements are tested, implemented, running and delivered.
  • Monitoring and optimizing campaigns daily to ensure accurate and effective campaign delivery.
  • Ensure all campaign elements (including third party ad tags) are firing correctly, in addition to all click through URL’s functioning correctly throughout the campaign period.
  • Achieve the minimum required turn-around time for campaign implementation/ trafficking.
  • Providing screenshots (proof of flights) for live campaigns.
  • Manage under-delivery of campaign during campaign period and inform all necessary parties ahead of time to allow for delivery optimization tactics and the management of client expectations.
  • Provide detailed feedback, interim reporting (if required), as well as in-depth post campaign reporting to all relevant parties.
  • Consistently provide excellent service levels and high attention to detail.
  • Testing new display products across the LNN, including providing detailed feedback and recommendations where required.
  • Assistance in tagging up new websites within the LNN, as well as other sites.
  • Assessing workflows and providing suggestions for improvements and streamlining.
  • Uploading of Advertorials and management of social media exposure for these campaigns
  • Reporting on any digital campaign booked by the branch, this includes banner campaigns, Promotions, Advertorials & sponsored content
