Mugger arrested on Uitsig Road

The arrest comes after Durban North SAPS warned pedestrians of a spate of muggings in the North Durban area.

BLUE Security armed response officers arrested an alleged robber following a mugging under Umgeni Road Bridge in Durban North on Thursday morning.

According to the company’s media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, the suspects, who were armed with a knife and a firearm, robbed two pedestrians under the bridge.

“The suspects held up two pedestrians, robbing them of cell phones and a wallet. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. Our officers and tactical team members responded to the scene and pursued the suspects. One of the men was arrested on Uitsig Road, however the second suspect managed to evade arrest.  A wallet and cell phone was recovered,” he said.
